Alaskana for Libraries: A core list of books is the product of the Alaskana Working Group which is a part of the Alaska Library Association's Statewide Collection Development Committee.

It is our first attempt to list a core collection for public libraries in Alaska. This bibliography is a committee. The Anchorage Museum library collection development plan is in line with the Museum’s overall mission and focuses on the history, ethnography, science and art of Alaska and the North.

The collection includes more t books, rare books, Alaska maps, auction catalogs, and periodicals about Alaska and : Freya Anderson. This annotated bibliography lists over books on Alaska recommended for consideration for Alaskana collections in public libraries.

The core list is arranged in the following broad subject categories: (1) reference; (2) biography, memoirs, travel; (3) fiction; (4) history; (5) native culture/history; (6) native language dictionaries; and (7) nature, science, technology.
